Itanagar: Social worker and youth leader Takam Regam from Arunachal Pradesh has been chosen as a special guest for the 79th Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort in New Delhi, officials announced on Wednesday.
The honour was given by MY Bharat, an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, to recognize his outstanding contributions to youth empowerment and nation-building.
Regam, who will join other notable representatives from across India, will be present at the national event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Known for his dynamic leadership, Regam founded two organizations Youth in Action for Arunachal Pradesh and the Arunachal Pradesh Young Mission Adventure Club. These initiatives promote leadership, social responsibility, and adventure-based learning.
His accomplishments include winning second place in the National Youth Parliament 2024 and winning the state-level declamation at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue.

He has also actively participated in various youth exchange programs and festivals, such as the Jai Bhim Padyatra and the 8th North East Youth Festival.
In addition to the Red Fort ceremony, Regam will take part in other cultural and ceremonial events related to Independence Day.
