Itanagar: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, on Tuesday visited forward areas in Arunachal Pradesh to review ongoing Operation Chaukas activities and assess operational preparedness along India’s eastern borders, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The visit comes ahead of Exercise ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’, a major upcoming tri-service military drill aimed at demonstrating integrated combat capabilities in the challenging terrain of the eastern Himalayas, it added.
According to Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the exercise will emphasize multi-domain coordination, enhanced synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and improved mission preparedness in the strategically significant region.
During his inspection, Lt Gen Pendharkar interacted with troops deployed in high-altitude forward posts, commending their professionalism, resilience, and dedication in safeguarding the nation’s borders despite extreme weather and terrain.
He lauded their unwavering vigilance and commitment, describing it as a reflection of the “core ethos of the Indian soldier.”

The GOC also underscored the importance of continuous training, interoperability, and operational synergy to ensure peak combat readiness, particularly along sensitive border stretches.
The visit, the Army said, reaffirms the Spear Corps’ focus on jointness, preparedness, and operational excellence to maintain robust security along the eastern frontier.
