Tawang: PKH Singh, additional director-general (East) of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) inspected the works of Sela Tunnel project in western Arunachal Pradesh.
Singh travelled on the final alignment of the project which was completed only a few hours before his arrival.
The ADG (East) of BRO was briefed about the Sela Tunnel project by Brig Raman Kumar, chief engineer Vartak.
Sela Tunnel is an under-construction road tunnel at a height of 9,800 feet, which will ensure all-weather connectivity to Tawang in western Arunachal Pradesh.
The tunnel is being excavated below the 13,800 feet Sela Pass on NH 13 component of Trans-Arunachal Highway system.
It will be connected with NH 13 by a new 12.4 km road and will reduce the distance between Dirang and Tawang by 10 km. the tunnel is likely to be commissioned soon.
The ADG (East) of BRO appreciated the site team for their efforts despite inclement weather and extremely challenging terrain.
He is also inspecting all other critical road of west Kameng and Tawang during his current tour to the area.
The BRO is steadfast in its effort for forward connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh and the progress is being monitored at the highest levels.
