Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 19 will inaugurate the newly constructed Donyi Polo Airport, the first civilian aerodrome of Aruanchal Pradesh.
A greenfield airport, equipped with all the modern facilities for passengers, has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 645 crore. With a 2,300 metre long runway, the airport can handle landing and take-off of big aircraft.
The Donyi Polo airport, with eight check-in counters, can accommodate up to 200 passengers during peak hours.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Dharmendra on Sunday reviewed the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit at the airport.
Senior officials of Arunachal Pradesh Police, Central intelligence also inspected the airport for a detailed security arrangement for the PM’s visit.
Dharmendra inspected the airport terminal and the site where the inaugural programme of the airport is scheduled to be held.
Indigo has announced to introduce direct flight from the new airport to Kolkata and Mumbai.
