Itanagar: A significant step toward enhancing healthcare access in the remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh was taken on Thursday, with the signing of an agreement between a Shimla-based central public sector enterprise and a private research institute, according to a statement.
SJVN Limited, a joint venture between the Centre and the Himachal Pradesh government, has partnered with Piramal Swasthya Management & Research Institute (PSMRI) to roll out mobile medical units (MMUs) across various project areas in the northeastern state.
The agreement was formalised in Shimla in the presence of Ajay Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the SJVN Foundation, the statement added.
During the event, Sharma emphasised that this collaboration would play a transformative role in improving access to crucial healthcare services for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in remote areas with limited medical facilities.

The SJVN Foundation, a registered trust of SJVN, is responsible for managing the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability projects.
The mobile medical units, set to begin operations in the coming months, will offer a range of primary healthcare services, including free medical consultations, diagnostic testing, medicines, and emergency care.
Fully equipped with essential medical resources, these units are designed to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved regions, the statement concluded.
