New Delhi: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to expanding inclusive sports infrastructure across India’s remote regions as he inaugurated a state-of-the-art multi-purpose indoor sports hall in Kamle district, Arunachal Pradesh, under the Khelo India initiative.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 8 crore, the facility is fully funded by the Central Government and is designed to nurture grassroots sporting talent in the North-Eastern state.
The hall is equipped to host and train athletes in various indoor disciplines including boxing, badminton, judo, wushu, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball.
“This region holds immense untapped potential,” said Mandaviya during the inauguration. “With such modern facilities, we aim to empower the youth of Arunachal Pradesh to excel in sports and contribute to the nation’s growth.”

The minister also interacted with local athletes and youth, urging them to take full advantage of the facility and incorporate sports and fitness into their daily lives.
He emphasised the broader vision of fostering discipline and a healthy lifestyle through sports.
The event was also attended by Arunachal Pradesh ministers Kento Jini and Nyato Dukam, who expressed gratitude for the Centre’s continued focus on the state’s sporting ecosystem.
