Ziro: The Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Skill Development, an initiative by Medhavi Skills University (MSU) in collaboration with Helping Hands NGO, celebrated the graduation of its first batch of students in a convocation ceremony at the Centre in Hong Village, Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh.
The event marked a milestone in empowering Northeast India’s youth with industry-relevant skills through vocational education.
Dignitaries including Director General of Police (DGP) Robin Hibu, IPS, Founder of Helping Hands, and Medhavi Skills University’s Founder and Chancellor, Pravesh Dudani, attended the ceremony.
Graduates from the Electrical and Plumbing certificate programs were recognized for their achievements. In addition to certificates, students received electrical and plumbing toolkits to support their future careers.
These programmes have already begun addressing local needs, creating job opportunities for residents that were previously outsourced to non-local talent.
Awards of Excellence were conferred upon three students for their exceptional performance: Hibu Komo from the Electrical program (1st batch), Narang Pullo from the Electrical program (2nd batch), and Tasu Abo from the Plumbing program (1st batch).
The Centre also announced the launch of a new Certificate Program in Hair Styling, scheduled to commence in April 2025.
This initiative aims to equip school dropouts with practical training in the beauty and wellness sector, offering hands-on experience through advanced labs and structured theoretical modules.
Speaking at the event, Robin Hibu highlighted the transformative impact of skill-based education on the socio-economic development of the Northeast.
“By equipping our youth with practical skills, we are fostering sustainable employment opportunities and financial independence,” he said.
Pravesh Dudani emphasized the Centre’s mission to make skill education inclusive and accessible, ensuring that students in remote areas gain the tools to build successful careers.
“Our goal is to bridge the skill gap and empower the youth to create a self-reliant future,” he stated.
