Itanagar: Kirat Biotech Private Limited and Siang-based Koje Jangoo MAP Farmer Producer Company (FPC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the cultivation, processing, and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants in Arunachal Pradesh.

This partnership seeks to simultaneously generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities and conserve and develop medicinal plant species native to the region.

Under the agreement, FPC members will designate land for organic cultivation of selected medicinal plants, aromatic plants, and spices by adhering to organic farming methods that promote biodiversity conservation.

To ensure farmers’ financial security, Kirat Biotech has pledged to buy back all harvested produce at current market prices.

Besides, the company will offer comprehensive technical assistance, provide planting materials, and facilitate the acquisition of essential permits and documentation.

Pramila Choudhury, Co-Founder and Director of Kirat Biotech said this partnership represents a significant step towards sustainable agriculture and rural development in Arunachal Pradesh.

“We are determined to promote the cultivation of top-quality medicinal plants while simultaneously empowering local farmers,” she emphasized.

Yasan Darang, Managing Director of Koje Janggo MAP FPC said that the collaboration will provide the members with a stable market for their produce.
