ITANAGAR: In a move to address the long-standing demands of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the creation of two new districts – Keyi Panyor and Bichom.
The decision, made during a cabinet meeting on February 5, marks a pivotal moment in the state’s administrative landscape.
Keyi Panyor district will be carved out from Lower Subansiri, while Bichom district will encompass parts from Nafra, West Kameng, and Lada/Baba, East Kameng.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in a statement following the Cabinet meeting, highlighted the government’s commitment to meeting the aspirations of the people and fulfilling its promises to them.
“With the establishment of Keyi Panyor and Bichom districts, we aim to ensure seamless access to administration and accelerate economic development through initiatives like Seva Aapke Dwar 2.0,” wrote Chief Minister Khandu on a social media website, post the cabinet meeting.
The creation of Keyi Panyor district reflects a conscious effort to respect traditional boundaries, ensuring harmony and public interest.
The new district is set to have 67 posts created across various categories, including Group A, Group B non-gazetted, Group C, MTS, and ALCs, facilitating efficient governance and service delivery.
Bichom District, with Napangphung as its headquarters, aims to bring far-flung areas within easy reach, fostering accessibility and driving economic growth.
This initiative aligns with the state’s commitment to enhancing development opportunities and ensuring inclusive progress across all regions.
With the addition of Keyi Panyor and Bichom districts, Arunachal Pradesh’s administrative map now boasts 28 districts, signalling a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards holistic development and decentralized governance.
