Itanagar: A historic moment for Arunachal Pradesh as the state’s first-ever Space Education Lab, a joint initiative of ISRO Space Tutor and VYOMIKA Space Academy, was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Yazali in Keyi Panyor district on Wednesday.
This facility is a major step forward in space education for India’s Northeast.
Education Minister PD Sona, who inaugurated the facility, hailed it as a groundbreaking initiative that would ignite the imaginations of young minds across the state.
District Commissioner Keyi Panyor Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, the driving force behind this project, described it as the realization of a long-held vision to introduce space education to local students. The space lab aims to ignite scientific curiosity and broaden educational horizons for the region’s youth.
PD Sona, who graced the event as the chief guest, commended the District Administration for this innovative initiative. He added that the new district is setting a commendable example for the entire state.
Dr. Nilesh Desai, Director of SAC/ISRO, in his maiden visit to Arunachal Pradesh, highlighted India’s significant advancements in space exploration. He emphasized that exposing young learners to space science would undoubtedly accelerate India’s overall progress.
MLA Toko Tatung highlighted the importance of space science in education, urging students and teachers to fully utilize the Space Lab. He commended the newly formed Keyi Panyor district for its rapid strides in development and progress.

The event also saw the inauguration of the Superintending Engineer’s office for the Rural Works Department in Yachuli.
