ITANAGAR: The Indian Army, in collaboration with a dedicated civilian medical team, organised a specialised eye-care camp in Dirang, West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The camp, a first-of-its-kind endeavour in the village, was tailored to address the eye care needs of the residents of the illage and the population around it.
The initiative was graced by Phurpa Tsering, MLA, Dirand, who, in a stirring address, expressed gratitude and admiration for the collaborative efforts that brought this vital healthcare service directly to the doorstep of the community.
A skilled team of doctors, comprising professionals from the Indian Army and the state government, led by the esteemed Chief Medical Officer of Dirang, undertook comprehensive eye examinations for over 800 locals.
With a focus on common eye issues such as refractive errors and cataracts, the medical team provided immediate on-site treatments, ensuring swift relief for those in need.
As part of a holistic approach to healthcare, follow-up actions are currently underway, including the distribution of numbered spectacles customised to meet the specific needs of the residents of the village.
The gratitude pouring in from villagers highlighted the impact of the Indian Army’s noble gesture, recognising its pivotal role in the overall development of the region.
Special commendation was also reserved for Carl Zeiss, a German optical systems and optoelectronics manufacturer, whose collaborative efforts were instrumental in making this healthcare endeavour a reality.
Villagers extended heartfelt thanks for their commitment to the nation’s well-being through such noble initiatives.
