Itanagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh over the next few days, with several districts likely to witness thunderstorms and moderate to heavy showers until September 23.
According to a bulletin issued by the regional meteorological centre, scattered rainfall and thundershowers are expected in most parts of the state during this period. A ‘yellow alert’ (be aware) has been issued for districts including West Kameng, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kamle, West Siang, Lepa Rada, East Siang, Dibang Valley, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain at isolated places.
The weather office cautioned residents about the risk of localised flooding, landslides, and disruption of surface communication during intense spells.
On Saturday, central and foothill districts such as Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, and East and West Kameng are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, with heavier showers possible in parts of the Siang belt and eastern districts. By Sunday, rainfall is expected to spread further, covering larger areas including Upper Subansiri, East Siang, Changlang, Namsai, and Dibang Valley, where thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible.

The wet spell will continue into Monday, with southern and eastern districts—particularly Changlang, Tirap, and Longding—likely to receive heavier showers, while central and western districts may witness intermittent rainfall. By September 23, rainfall distribution may turn uneven, though eastern and foothill districts are expected to remain wetter compared to western highlands.
