ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh’s serene Parshuram Kund, nestled by the holy Lohit River, is set to undergo a significant transformation with the installation of a towering 51-feet statue of Sage Parshuram.
Generously donated by the VIPRA Foundation, an organisation dedicated to promoting Parshuram Kund since 2021, the foundation work for the statue’s installation has been completed.
Additionally, under the Centre’s Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) scheme, a substantial grant of Rs 37.87 crore has been sanctioned for the holy site’s rejuvenation purpose.
Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, also the local representative of Chongkham-Wakro Constituency, has played a pivotal role in overseeing this transformative project.

He recently highlighted the project’s goal to enhance accessibility and cultural unity, akin to the spirit of the Kumbh Mela, drawing pilgrims and devotees in large numbers annually.
“The magnificent 51 ft statue of Bhagwan Parshuram, soon to be installed at the holy site, is anticipated to add grandeur to the locale and attract more visitors in the years to come,” he had said during the five-day 2024 Parshuram Kund Festival in January.
The Parshuram Kund Festival is an annually fair organised during the month of Magh (Hindu calendar), culminating at Makar Sankranti, drawing devotees seeking spiritual rejuvenation and blessings.
In celebration of these efforts, the VIPRA Foundation recently organised a special Swasthya Kamana ceremony at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in New Delhi.
The event honoured Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Deputy Chief Minister Mein, alongside newly elected MPs and prominent leaders.
As development progresses, the installation of Sage Parshuram’s statue marks a significant milestone in the ongoing enhancement of Parshuram Kund.
The site’s allure continues to grow, drawing more pilgrims each year to partake in its sacred offerings and cultural festivities.
