Itanagar: Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen RC Tiwari on Friday met Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) to discuss border security, welfare of ex-servicemen and other aspects of the Army’s engagement with the state government, Raj Bhavan said in a statement.
Lt Gen Tiwari was accompanied by Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps.
During the meeting, Governor Parnaik reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening border infrastructure, enhancing operational capabilities and adopting advanced technologies in line with the Centre’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring the welfare of serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Parnaik commended the Eastern Command for maintaining peace and stability along the borders and for its close coordination with local communities, particularly through the Vibrant Village Programme, which focuses on developing frontier villages using a multi-pronged, resource-based strategy.
The governor said the goodwill generated by the armed forces has played a key role in improving the economic well-being of border residents while reinforcing security in the region.
He urged the Army Commander to organise regular ex-servicemen rallies across the state’s difficult terrain and emphasised the need for greater participation of Veer Naris, the widows of soldiers who lost their lives in service.
