Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh will host the fourth edition of the ‘Eaglenest Bird Festival’ from January 17-19 at Khellong and Thongre villages in West Kameng district.

Recognized as a major calendar event of the state, the Eaglenest Bird Festival underscores Arunachal Pradesh’s natural beauty and biodiversity.

Taking to social media, Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister said, “Plan a trip to Arunachal Pradesh this New Year to experience its incredible biodiversity and join hands in fostering community-driven efforts to conserve the region’s wildlife and ecosystems.”

“Explore Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in West Kameng district, home to some of the rarest bird species and endangered wildlife that make this sanctuary a true natural gem,” Mein added.

The festival’s new logo was recently unveiled by Chief Minister Pema Khandu during the grand finale of the 4th Mon Sergyeling & Mon Rigzung Sergyeling festival in Tawang.

This year’s festival will spotlight the region’s rich biodiversity while promoting sustainable eco-tourism and community-driven conservation efforts.

The festival will feature the declaration of a trail that traces the historic route of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

This trail is significant not only for its cultural importance but also for its spiritual relevance. The trail will highlight the deep connection between nature and the spiritual heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

The festival will include the inauguration of the Eco Bio-Diversity Park, which will become home to a tree planted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his visit in 1959.

In addition, the festival will feature the Birdathon, a popular event for birdwatching enthusiasts, which celebrates the rich avian diversity of the region.

Adventure trekking events will also be organized, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the beautiful and pristine landscapes of the region while promoting eco-tourism.

The Eaglenest Bird Festival has grown in importance over the years and has become a significant event for both local communities and tourists.

By focusing on sustainable tourism, the festival helps in enhancing the state’s visibility on the national and international tourism maps.

The festival not only attracts birdwatchers and adventure enthusiasts but also encourages local communities to take an active role in conservation efforts.
