Itanagar: In a move to strengthen grassroots storytelling and community participation, DD News Arunachal Pradesh has launched a citizen journalism initiative titled ‘Mera Gaon, Meri Kahani’ (My Village, My Story), aimed at amplifying voices from villages and remote areas across the state.

The programme seeks to create a public platform where citizens can share authentic, ground-level narratives that reflect local development, positive change and community-driven efforts.

Officials said the initiative will focus on real-life stories from villages, highlighting themes such as education, healthcare, culture, environment, entrepreneurship and social transformation.

Under the initiative, people are invited to submit original content in the form of short write-ups, photographs and videos documenting meaningful work and progress at the grassroots level.

Contributions must carry the contributor’s name, village or town, district and contact details to ensure authenticity and accountability.

To maintain a simple and accessible format, text submissions are limited to 150–300 words, while video entries can range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, enabling citizens to capture genuine local voices and experiences in a concise form.

Welcoming the initiative, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein described it as an important step towards people-led storytelling and inclusive development narratives.

In a post on X, he said the programme would help highlight grassroots development, positive change and community participation across Arunachal Pradesh.

He also urged youth, community leaders and citizens from across the state to actively participate by sharing factual, original stories on education, health, entrepreneurship, culture, environment and social initiatives, saying such contributions would reflect the true spirit and progress of the state.

Officials said the campaign underlines the growing importance of citizen-led journalism in documenting local achievements, strengthening public awareness, and bringing untold village success stories into the mainstream media narrative.
