Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday inaugurated the third edition of the theatre festival ‘Arunachal Rang Mahotsav’ (ARM) at the DK Convention Centre in Itanagar.

Describing the annual theatre festival as a celebration of “art, courage and human connection”, CM Khandu said the festival reflects the state’s growing presence on the global cultural map.

The chief minister attended the premiere of the opening play ‘Robin and Jummi’. “The inaugural performance “Robin & Jummi”, directed by Riken Ngomle with Asst. Directors Lod Akash & Ranjana Manger, and performed by ROOTS Delhi Artists, moved the audience to deep silence and reflection,” he stated.

“It was an honour to have celebrated actor Adil Hussain with us at the opening ceremony of ARM 2025,” Khandu said.

He said that with participation from artists representing 10 countries, the ARM continues to prove that “the language of art is universal”.

He called on students, young people, art enthusiasts and theatre practitioners to witness the rich diversity and powerful storytelling showcased at the festival.

The Arunachal Rang Mahotsav will conclude on December 6.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, chairman of the festival committee, said ARM has rapidly emerged as one of the Northeast’s most influential cultural platforms.

“ARM celebrates our theatre traditions, creative expression and emerging talent. In just three editions, it has become one of the region’s most significant theatre festivals,” he said.

Mein welcomed officials from the embassies of Denmark and Ireland, noting that their involvement enriches the festival’s growing global engagement. He also acknowledged artists from across India and performers from abroad who travelled to Arunachal to share their work.

“It was a pleasure to have Bollywood actors Adil Hussain (Festival Ambassador), Mita Vasisht and Ashok Bhagat with us. Their presence inspires and motivates the young artists of Arunachal Pradesh,” he added.
