Khandu added, “We joined in the lighting of ceremonial lamps and paid floral tributes to the musical icon whose voice continues to bind Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and the nation in harmony.”

The celebration was attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s nephew Mayukh Hazarika, among others.

CM Pema Khandu and others also visited the house in Bolung where Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika spent his youthful days.

The historic residence, once home to the late Gora Pertin—a prominent Arunachali leader and cultural advocate—is now maintained by the next generation, yet still resonates with the history and heritage that shaped the legendary musician.
