Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Yalom Mize has emerged as the state’s first-ever shooter to clinch a medal at the North East Zonal Shooting Championship.
Mize, who hails from Tekang village, bagged gold in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s Individual Senior Category at the 12th edition of the championship held in Mizoram’s Aizawl.
She scored an impressive 361 points, outclassing her rivals and securing the top podium finish.
“Hearty congratulations to Ms. Yalom Mize for making history as the first shooter from Arunachal Pradesh to win a medal at the NE Zonal Shooting Championship!” Arunachal Pradesh Chief minister Pema Khandu posted on X.
Khandu added, “She clinched the Gold in the 10m Air Pistol (Women’s Individual Senior Category) at the 12th NE Zonal Shooting Championship held in Aizawl. A proud moment for the state and an inspiration to young athletes!”
With this feat, Mize has also booked her berth for the prestigious National Shooting Championship Competition (NSCC) — a landmark achievement not just for her but for Arunachal Pradesh’s sporting fraternity.

The 12th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2025 in Rifle/Pistol events was held in Aizawl from September 8- September 13, 2025. The championship was conducted by the Mizoram Rifle Association under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India.
