Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s para athlete Tingong Wangpan clinched two gold medals at the 7th International Para Athletics Championship 2025, which concluded in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Wangpan emerged as the star of the contingent, bagging two gold medals in the men’s 400m and 200m sprints under the T35 category.
Arunachal athlete Kipa Mero also contributed to the state’s success, earning a bronze in the women’s F13 javelin throw.
The Para Athletics Association (PAA) lauded these “remarkable achievements” as a testament to the talent and dedication of the state’s para-athletes, signaling Arunachal’s growing presence in international para-sports.
“A proud and historic moment for Arunachal Pradesh! Our incredible para-athletes have made the state shine at the 7th International Para Athletics Championship 2025 held in Bengaluru (10–12 July),” Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted on X.
“Heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes and the support team! Your achievements have brought great honour to Arunachal and lit the path for many future champions,” Khandu added.

The team’s strong performance was a testament to Coach Techi Sonu’s mentorship, under whose dedicated guidance the athletes developed discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
