Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Shamchak Mossang has clinched Gold in the ‘National Full Contact Karate Championship 2024’ held in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The championship was held from November 15 to 17 at City Centre 2, New Town in Kolkata.
Over 450 participants from 15 states across India, including Assam, Arunachal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, among others participated in the event.

Mossang, who hails from Neotan Village in Arunachal Pradesh, won the gold medal in the 52.1 kg weight category at the 7th Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh in May this year.
The championship offered a unique platform for athletes, coaches, and martial arts enthusiasts to showcase their skills, while also promoting sportsmanship and community engagement.
In addition to the thrilling competition, the event also celebrated “Japan Month,” an initiative by the Academy in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in India, reflecting the strong cultural ties between India and Japan in the field of martial arts.
