Itanagar: Nani Sonam from Arunachal Pradesh bagged a silver medal in the skateboarding park event at the ongoing 62nd National Roller Skating Championships 2024 in Bangalore on Sunday.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh, as Nani Sonam has become the first from Arunachal to win a medal in the skateboarding park in the female category.
This was also her maiden participation in the skateboarding park.

Sonam had earlier won the gold medal in the senior female skateboarding category of the 60th and the 61st National Roller Skating Championships, which were held in Karnataka in 2022 and Chandigarh in 2023, respectively.
The Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI) holds the annual National Roller Sports Championships in for males and females in age groups Sub Juniors (11 to 14 years), Juniors (14 to 17 Years) and Seniors (above 17 years) in the disciplines of artistic skating, speed skating, inline freestyle, roller freestyle, roller hockey, inline hockey, inline downhill, inline alpine, skateboarding and roller derby.

The RSFI also hosts other events, including: Federation Cup, Open National Ranking Roller Skating Championships, Level 1 Referee Seminar, and India Skate Games.
The RSFI is affiliated with World Skate, the world’s parent body of roller skating, and World Skate Asia, the Asian parent body of roller skating.
