Itanagar: Karate sensation from Arunachal Pradesh, Mesom Singhi, has brought glory to the nation by winning the Gold Medal in Women’s Kata at the 9th South Asian Karate Championship, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from July 2-5.

Representing Team India under the mentorship of Shihan Keerthan Kondru, the National Team Coach, Mesom delivered a powerful and graceful kata performance that secured her the top podium spot among the region’s best martial artists.

A native of Attangrang village, East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh, Mesom is the daughter of Langku Singhi and Yajik Singhi.

She is a 3rd Dan Black Belt holder and one of the most accomplished female karatekas from Arunachal Pradesh, having earned over 26 medals at national, regional, and international levels.

She bagged a bronze medal at the Moscow Karate Universe 2024.

Mesom is currently undergoing intensive training at MY DOJO KARATE ACADEMY in Hyderabad.

The academy, run by Shihan Keerthan Kondru, is based in Nizampet, Hyderabad, and has produced several national and international-level karate athletes.

Her ultimate aim is to secure a medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. Mesom’s inspiring journey from a remote tribal village to the international karate stage showcases remarkable dedication, resilience, and excellence.
