Arunachal Pradesh’s Chochomai Lap bags gold medal at National Sub-Junior Judo Championship

Itanagar: Chochomai Lap of Arunachal Pradesh has won a gold medal at the National Sub-Junior Judo Championship, 2024-25 held in Maharashtra.

The Sub–Junior National Judo Championships ( Boys & Girls ) was organized by the Judo Federation of India in association with the Maharashtra Judo Association from January 18-21.

According to the Arunachal Judo Association (AJA), Lap won the medal in the below 44 kg category.

“Chochomai Lap shines bright with a Gold at the National Sub-Junior Judo Championship 2024-25 held in Maharashtra!” Chief Minister Pema Khandu wrote on X.

Luna Techi Tara has bagged a silver medal in the girls’ below 57 kg category.

In addition to other medals, the state secured five bronze medals. The recipients were Tagru Taluk, Wangrang Wangsu, Bugha Sangdo, Ragi Techi, and Bolam Wangsu.

While Taluk won in the boys’ below 50 kg category, (Wangrang) Wangsu won in the boys’ below 45 kg category.

Sangdo, Techi, and Bolam Wangsu won in the boys’ below 55 kg, below 60 kg and below 66 kg category, respectively.

Arunachal Pradesh has emerged victorious at the recently concluded 7th National Open Taekwondo Championship 2025 held in Lucknow from 16 to 20 January.

The state’s contingent showcased exceptional talent and dedication, bagging a commendable haul of medals.

While Badal Das won the gold medal in the senior male individual poomsae, Dorik Gamoh, Marpi Basar and Ampo Apum won the gold medal in the senior female group poomsae.

Badal and Dorik won the third gold in the senior mixed pair poomsae.

The silver medal was won by Dorik in the senior female individual poomsae, and the bronze medal was won by Marpi in the senior female individual poomsae.

“Proud of our champs for bringing glory to the State,” Khandu added.
