Itanagar: Anini, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley, has earned the prestigious Gold Award for ‘Best Offbeat Mountain Destination’ at the Outlook Traveller Awards 2024.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that it’s a befitting tribute to Anini’s distinctive charm and untouched natural beauty.
CM Khandu said, “I am thrilled to share that Anini has received the prestigious Gold Award for the ‘Best Offbeat Mountain Destination’ at the highly acclaimed Outlook Traveller Awards-2024.”
“This coveted award is a testament to Anini’s growing appeal as a destination that seamlessly blends scenic splendour with cultural richness, making it a standout choice for offbeat travel enthusiasts, he said.
Khandu further added, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to making Anini a must-visit location and to Outlook Traveller for recognizing its exceptional qualities.”
This recognition further establishes Anini as a premier destination for offbeat travellers, providing visitors and tourists with an opportunity to delve into the vibrant cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.
Due to its remote location, Anini remains a small and underdeveloped town. However, it has basic road and air links to the rest of India.

Most of Anini is located on a miniature plateau between two tributaries of the Dibang river, the Dri river and the Mathun river. Snowfall is common in the winter, and can become quite heavy (6m – 10m) in the mountains. Idu Mishmis, also known as Yidu Lhoba in China, are the main inhabitants of the district.
