Itanagar: The Arunachal Government is likely to collaborate with France to boost sports infrastructure, biodiversity conservation, and agro-based industries in the state.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday met French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, his wife Madame Cecile Mathou and Consul General of France in Kolkata Didier Talpin to discuss potential partnerships in various fields.
“We are delighted to host you here in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun,’ a place where vibrant culture, natural wonders and stunning landscapes come together in perfect harmony. We hope you enjoy the serene beauty, the rich heritage and the warm hospitality of our people,” CM Pema Khandu said.
“With our shared passion for football, we’re excited about opportunities to work with French expertise to nurture local talent and enhance our sports infrastructure,” Khandu said.
Additionally, with France’s renowned experience in biodiversity conservation, we look forward to their support in the development of natural parks in Arunachal, helping protect our diverse ecosystems, he said.
The deliberation also focussed on leveraging Arunachal Pradesh’s immense horticultural potential.
The chief minister further added, “We also discussed leveraging Arunachal’s immense horticultural potential, particularly orchids, and the development of agro-based industries to transform local produce into value-added products.”
Khandu expressed hope that this visit would foster deeper ties and strengthen the spirit of friendship between India and France.

French Ambassador Thierry Mathou, who is on a 5-day tour to the state, also met Governor KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Thursday.
They discussed avenues for sustainable adventure and ecotourism, agricultural and poultry cold chain management, and building capacities in biodiversity.
