Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up for the 80th Commemorative Celebration of World War II, to be held in conjunction with the Pangsau Pass Winter Festival.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein chaired a meeting on the construction of the World War II Museum at Jairampur and the 80 Years Commemorative Celebration of World War II.
The museum, along with the renovation of century-old colonial-era infrastructures, will form the foundation of a heritage tourism circuit in Arunachal Pradesh.
“This initiative will not only attract WWII enthusiasts, researchers, and remembrance travellers from across the globe but also create livelihood opportunities for local communities through guiding, hospitality, handicrafts, transport, and allied services. It will further strengthen our cultural and historical links with countries whose soldiers rest here,” Mein said.
The 80 Years Commemorative Celebration will be organised alongside the Pangsau Pass Winter Festival, featuring a Willy Jeep ride from the Hump Museum in Pasighat to Pangsau Pass in Changlang district.
The event also aims to promote a tourist circuit and heritage trail along the historic Stilwell Road (Ledo Road), envisioned as a distinctive attraction for global visitors.
