Itanagar: The Namdapha Butterfly Festival in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district will be held from November 26 to 28, an official said.
A.K. Deka, Field Director of Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve (NNP&TR), said the event — which celebrates the region’s exceptional biodiversity — will be hosted at Khachang village in Miao.
The three-day festival aims to bring together nature enthusiasts, researchers, and local communities to promote conservation awareness and eco-tourism, Deka said. The event is being organised by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in collaboration with several local groups, including the Khachang-Mattungkhim Youth Forum.
Recognised as one of the world’s richest biodiversity hotspots, the Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve is home to over 500 butterfly species. The festival serves as an important platform to highlight the park’s ecological significance and its role in preserving fragile Himalayan ecosystems.

Among the spectacular butterfly species found here are the Kaiser-i-Hind, Blue Mormon, Peacock Pansy, and the rarely sighted Zigzag Flat and Yellow Veined Lancer, Deka added.
