Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday lauded the state’s para-athletes for their “historic performance” at the second North East Para Games held in Guwahati.
The Arunachal contingent secured the runner-up position in the overall medal tally, finishing with an impressive total of 84 medals.

In a post on X, CM Khandu said, “Heartiest congratulations to Team Arunachal Pradesh for a historic performance at the 2nd North East Para Games 2025, Guwahati! Our para-athletes made the state proud by finishing Runner-Up in the overall medal tally, winning a remarkable 84 medals – 23 Gold, 31 Silver and 30 Bronze.”
Khandu said the achievement across multiple disciplines showcases the courage, talent, and unwavering spirit of the state’s Divyangjan sportspersons.
“Proud of every athlete, coach and the Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) for this milestone,” he stated.
Events were conducted across multiple venues in Guwahati, featuring competitions in athletics, swimming, badminton, powerlifting, archery, table tennis, boccia, and several other disciplines.
The multi-sport event seeks to foster inclusivity, offer a competitive platform for differently-abled athletes, and strengthen institutional support for para-sports across the region.

This year’s edition recorded a substantial rise in participation compared to its 2023 debut, highlighting the growing interest in and investment toward para-sport infrastructure across the Northeast.
