Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh State Election Commissioner Rinchen Tashi has reviewed the preparations for the upcoming panchayat elections and polls to two urban local bodies with senior officials, according to an official statement.
The panchayat elections, along with the polls for the Itanagar Municipal Corporation and Pasighat Municipal Council, are scheduled to be held in December this year.
A high-level review meeting, chaired by State Election Commissioner Rinchen Tashi, was held to assess the state’s logistical preparedness and security arrangements for the upcoming polls.
Tashi held a meeting with Chief Secretary Kaling Tayeng, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chuku Apa. They were briefed on key issues related to poll conduct, including the need to maintain strong security and law and order during the election period, the statement said.
Chief Secretary Kaling Tayeng and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chuku Apa assured comprehensive administrative and logistical support — including manpower, financial resources, and enhanced security measures — to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
Special focus was laid on the sensitive districts of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding, where the Commission emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance and sufficient deployment of security personnel to ensure free and fair elections.

The State Election Commissioner underscored that the Commission’s top priorities are transparency, efficiency, and voter safety, urging all departments to work in close coordination to uphold the democratic values of the state.
