Bomdila: Arunachal Pradesh police has arrested a head constable of the 1st India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) and seized narcotic and psychotropic substances valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh from his possession, an official said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as 49-year-old Tashi Bapu, a resident of Miji Colony in Bomdila, was apprehended on October 3 for allegedly consuming and peddling drugs, Bomdila Police Station officer-in-charge, sub-inspector H.B. Tator, said.
During the operation, the police team recovered 50 vials containing 66.28 grams of heroin along with Rs 13,500 in cash from his possession.
Police said the arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on drug abuse and trafficking in the region.

According to police, Bapu is a habitual drug peddler and has been involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act. A case has been registered against him at Bomdila Police Station, and an investigation is underway to identify and trace his supply network.
