Itanagar: In a significant milestone, the football turf at the Outdoor Stadium in Jang in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district has been tested and certified to the “FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf – FIFA Quality” standard by FIFA.
Taking to X, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, “This certification is a testament to our dedication to the growth of football in our state.”

We believe that good infrastructure will pave the way for nurturing young talent and elevating sports culture in the region, Khandu said.
It is expected that the recognition will foster a stronger sports culture in the region as well as inspire young athletes to pursue their passion.
Chief Minister Khandu also announced that the much-anticipated second edition of the Tawang Marathon will take place on October 24.
He invited runners from around the world to experience a thrilling high-altitude adventure by taking part in India’s one of the toughest mountain running events.
The state aims to make its annual marathon a memorable and inspiring event for runners from across India.

The Tawang Marathon, a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh government, provides runners with a chance to experience the breathtaking scenery of the “Land of Mystic Mountains.”
