Itanagar: Kabak Yano, a mountaineer from Arunachal Pradesh, has added another landmark achievement to her climbing career by scaling Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, as part of her ongoing 7-Summit Mountaineering Expedition.
According to officials of the state Sports Department, Yano reached the summit of the 22,831-foot peak in Argentina on Sunday, moving a step closer to completing the demanding challenge of climbing the highest mountains on all seven continents.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik congratulated Yano on the achievement, describing it as a testament to her courage, discipline and perseverance.
He said her success was not only a personal milestone but also a source of inspiration for the youth of the state.

In a statement, the Governor expressed hope that Yano’s journey would encourage more young people to take up sports and adventure activities, and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting youth participation in games, sports and adventure disciplines.
Parnaik had formally flagged off Yano’s 7-Summit expedition from Lok Bhavan on July 28 last year in the presence of Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini.
An Everester, Yano has already climbed Mount Kilimanjaro on August 4, 2025, and Mount Elbrus on August 16, 2025.
The prestigious 7-Summit challenge entails summiting the highest peaks across all continents, a feat accomplished by only a handful of mountaineers worldwide.
