Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday rolled out its Agriculture and Horticulture Policies (2025–2035), a ten-year roadmap aimed at transforming the state’s agrarian economy and ensuring long-term prosperity for farmers.
Unveiling the vision document, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the new policies go beyond crop cultivation to “cultivating opportunities and futures.”
He stressed that the state is working to empower farmers, scale up production, and position Arunachal as a model for sustainable agricultural growth.
Highlighting key achievements, Mein noted that Arunachal has become the country’s leading organic kiwi producer, while also making significant contributions to orange and cardamom cultivation.
He further pointed to the setting up of Palm Oil Mills in Roing and Ruksin — a pioneering initiative billed as the first of its kind in India.
“Our commitment is to transform the agrarian economy and ensure prosperity reaches every farmer of Arunachal Pradesh,” the deputy chief minister said in a social media post.
Official figures show that the frontier state produces 5.2 lakh MT of foodgrains and 15,000 MT of pulses annually.

In the past nine years, more than 20,900 hectares of farmland have been added, expanding the agricultural base considerably.
Officials said the new policies will prioritise sustainable farming practices, adoption of modern technologies, and stronger market linkages.
The focus, they added, will be on not just raising production but also securing fairer returns for farmers’ produce.
