Itanagar: The IndiGo Airlines has officially begun incoming cargo operations via the passenger terminal at Donyi Polo Airport in Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar.
The inbound cargo services by IndiGo started during the day, while the outbound operations will begin shortly from Hollongi Airport, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said.
The chief minister hailed the development as a major milestone in the state’s connectivity and economic growth journey.
He said the inbound cargo services will enable faster delivery of essential goods, parcels, and business consignments directly to Itanagar.
“It will benefit the local traders and entrepreneurs with quicker, cost-effective logistics. It will also improve access to medical supplies, enhancing emergency healthcare response,” he said.
The facility will be convenient for air passengers who can now receive shipments during their travel.
Khandu further stated, “The service will also give a boost to the local economy through efficient supply chain operations and reduce dependence on road transport, especially vital during monsoons.”
The enhanced multi-modal connectivity will strengthen Donyi Polo Airport’s position as an emerging logistics hub for the northeastern region, he added.
