Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is hosting a major motorsports event over two days starting Thursday, in the hilly stretch from Namsai to Pangsau Pass, aimed at promoting the state as a new destination for adventure tourism.
Organised by Adventure X-Fusion Tribe under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the event is being held as part of the 10th edition of the Pangsau Pass International Festival 2026.
The 11-km stretch will see competitors climb to an altitude of around 3,727 feet near the Indo-Myanmar border. One of the key attractions of the event, titled PowerDrive, is a hill climb competition—described as the first of its kind in the country—which will be flagged off from Hell Gate on January 22.
Another major attraction is the tarmac autocross event—also a first in the country—which is scheduled to take place in Namsai town on January 23.
The programme is also being supported by the state tourism department and the Assam Rifles. Officials said the PowerDrive event highlights the infrastructure potential of Namsai district, which has been identified as an aspirational district by NITI Aayog, and is in line with national goals of promoting tourism and engaging youth.
