Itanagar: Celebrating the vibrant diversity of butterflies, a three-day Eaglenest Butterfly Festival 2024 was held at Doimara in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district.
The three-day celebration of nature’s beauty was organized by Nature’s Friendship Rupa and Mahila Shakti Kendra of Balipara, with the support of the state’s Department of Tourism and Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
The festival, which kicked off on November 9, highlighted the crucial role of butterflies in the ecosystem. By organizing butterfly and bird walks in the scenic Doimara and Khellong regions, the event provided an opportunity for enthusiasts and experts to learn about these delicate creatures and their contribution to ecological balance.
The festival offered insightful discussions on butterfly conservation and their essential role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.

The event was inaugurated by former minister D.K. Thongdok, in the presence of Conservator of Forest Millo Tassar and District Tourism Officer of West Kameng Tracy Thongdok.
The festival attracted participants from various institutions, including Tezpur University, Rangapara College, Balipara College, among others. Senior residents from neighbouring areas like Doimara, Kamengbari, and Rupa also attended the event.
