Itanagar: In a landmark step towards inclusive development, the Arunachal Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art special school for Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting in Miao in Changlang district on Tuesday (October 7).
The proposed institution aims to provide world-class education, therapy and health facilities, and holistic care for children with special needs.
“This initiative reaffirms our government’s unwavering commitment to equity, empathy, and empowerment,” Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said.
The institution is envisioned as a model centre of learning, health care, and empowerment, ensuring that children with special needs receive equal access to quality education and holistic development opportunities.
The Department of Education has been directed to prepare a detailed proposal for creating the necessary posts and infrastructure to implement the project, Khandu stated.
The school, upon completion, is expected to become a pioneering model for inclusive education in the state, addressing existing gaps in accessibility and support for differently-abled students.
The cabinet also approved Phase-II infrastructure development of the State Sports Academy in Miao with a total investment of Rs 130 crore, underscoring the government’s commitment to promote sports and nurture young talent in the region.
