Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Monday flagged off Everester Kabak Yano’s ambitious “Seven-Summit” mountaineering expedition, a challenging mission to scale the highest peaks on all seven continents.
The ceremonial flag-off took place at the Raj Bhavan, marking the official start of Yano’s challenging global mountaineering endeavour.
In a symbolic gesture, Governor Parnaik presented Yano with a ceremonial ice axe adorned with the Indian tricolour and the Arunachal Pradesh state emblem.
Sports Minister Kento Jini was also present, extending financial support for her expedition.
Describing the event as a “celebration of courage and conviction,” Governor Parnaik lauded Yano’s determination, stating that her journey “represents the indomitable spirit that dares to dream beyond boundaries.”
He highlighted that only a select few worldwide have attempted the Seven-Summit expedition and commended Yano’s bold commitment to join this elite group.
“Yano carries with her the blessings of the people of Arunachal, the dreams of a new generation, and the resilient, peaceful, and unstoppable spirit of our state,” the Governor remarked, urging her to showcase “the strength, grace, and tenacity of a daughter of Arunachal” to the world.
In recognition of her earlier achievement of summiting Mount Everest on May 21 last year, the Governor presented Yano with the ‘Land of Rising Sun’ plaque, honouring her as a “beacon of inspiration for the entire state.”
Yano holds the distinction of being the fifth woman from Arunachal Pradesh and the first from the Nyishi community to conquer Mount Everest.
