GUWAHATI: In a triumphant moment for Arunachal Pradesh, the state’s tourism department clinched the prestigious title of “Best Offbeat Destination in India” at a glittering award ceremony organised by a leading travel publication in New Delhi.
Representatives of Arunachal Tourism, including Additional Resident Commissioner, Sanjeev Dubey and Resident Tourism Officer, Adong Moyong, accepted the accolade with pride at a city hotel in New Delhi, recently.
The recognition marks a significant achievement for the state and its tourism stakeholders.
“This recognition is another pat on the back for all stakeholders – the department of tourism, tour operators, hotel operators, and the public of the state. It is a call for them to re-dedicate themselves to preserving their nature and culture, ensuring sustainability in the tourism sector, and contributing to the upliftment of the public and society,” said Deputy Tourism Director Bengia Manna Sonam in a statement released post the ceremony.
In addition to the recognition, Arunachal Pradesh was also recently bagged the “Best Upcoming Adventure State Award” at the 15th annual convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI).
The convention, held recently at the City of Tents, Narmada in Gujarat, saw Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu addressing the gathering.
Chief Minister Khandu, while highlighting the intrinsic connection between adventure and Arunachal Pradesh, said, “Adventure and Arunachal always go hand in hand, as we have plenty to offer to support the industry.”
He presided over the 15th ATOAI Convention as the Chief Guest, highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting adventure tourism.
Arunachal Pradesh, graced with unspoiled natural beauty and an exceptional tribal culture, provides an array of experiences for visitors. The state’s cultural richness is woven from 26 major tribes and over a hundred sub-tribes, each distinguished by unique customs, kinship bonds, and dialects.
