Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has stressed that a coordinated and timely approach is crucial for the smooth implementation of power projects, ensuring the state meets its increasing power demands.
Mein chaired a review meeting on the ‘Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening the Transmission and Distribution System in Arunachal Pradesh’ at the DC Conference Hall in Namsai on Thursday (April 17).
“This critical scheme aims to ensure reliable and efficient power supply, especially in remote and underserved regions. We assessed the progress made, identified bottlenecks, and emphasized timely execution to meet the growing power needs of our people,” he said.
Mein said over the last few years, the state has made rapid strides in the power sector.
“With several hydropower projects underway, robust transmission and distribution infrastructure is vital for immediate power evacuation and delivery,” the deputy chief minister said.
Reviewing the current status of the project and the reasons for the delay, Mein, who is also the Power minister, highlighted the government’s focus on the power sector.
He said the meeting was convened to resolve the pending issues in the implementation of this comprehensive scheme.
Mein asked the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to expedite all remaining works and ensure the timely completion of the comprehensive scheme for strengthening the transmission and distribution system.
He also urged the PGCIL to maintain close coordination with the district administration and Power department by taking into confidence the local legislators for smooth and effective on-ground execution.

The three crucial projects under the scheme namely 33 kV of the 132 kV Niglok substation, the 33 kV Niglok-Ruksin line, and the 33 kV Oyan sub-station were successfully commissioned on Thursday.
