Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the Traditional Mishmi Hut and a hostel-cum-guest house at the Mishmi Cultural Heritage Centre (MCHC) in Jollang, Itanagar, on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the Traditional Mishmi Hut, the deputy chief minister said, “The Mishmi community has always been a torchbearer in preserving and promoting the indigenous heritage and identity of Arunachal Pradesh.”
The newly inaugurated facilities will not only serve as a hub for cultural exchange but also provide essential accommodation for students, patients, and visitors coming from remote regions, he stated.
Funded by the Department of Indigenous Affairs and executed by the state’s Water Resource Department, the new facilities aim to safeguard the rich cultural traditions of the Mishmi community.
Mein lauded the Mishmi Welfare Society, Itanagar, for its vision and dedication to promoting community welfare.
He added, “Our government remains deeply committed to preserving the tribal traditions of our state. Through initiatives such as the Department of Indigenous Affairs, GI tagging of traditional products, One Tribe One Weave, and Indigenous Gurukuls, we continue to celebrate and protect the essence of Arunachal’s rich heritage.”
