Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over Rs 100 crore in the picturesque town of Mechuka in Shi Yomi district.
CM Khandu inaugurated the IT Skill Development Centre at Menchuka, an initiative by the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana.
“This centre will open new horizons for our youth, empowering them with essential digital skills and opportunities for a brighter future,” he said.
He thanked the Army for their dedication to nation-building, recognizing their efforts that extend beyond their regular duties.
The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming connectivity and promoting sports in the region.
Notably, the foundation stones were laid for the construction of Township Road at Tato, a motorable bailey suspension bridge over Yargapchu to connect Gautse River Island in Menchuka, a steel composite bridge at Tsenang (Farge) to connect Mechukha Village, a multipurpose sports stadium at Monigong, PWD Road to Roing Village under Pidi Circle, and a cement concrete road at Drongsar.
Khandu also inaugurated a Multipurpose Indoor Hall at Menchuka, aiming at nurturing young talent and promoting a culture of fitness and sports.
The chief minister was accompanied by Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona. Highlighting Shi Yomi’s rising tourism potential, Pasang Dorjee Sona said Mechuka’s scenic beauty, strategic location, and rich culture are key attractions.

CM Khandu also inaugurated an ‘Adventure Zone’ at Mechuka.
He added, “This initiative aims to harness the region’s natural beauty and rich potential for adventure sports, opening new avenues for tourism, livelihood, and sustainable development.”
