Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) is observed every year on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, who played a key role in uniting the country after Independence.
The day was first introduced in 2014 by the Government of India to honour Patel’s efforts in integrating over 560 princely states into the Indian Union, earning him the title “Iron Man of India.”
