Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday praised the successful completion of the civil-military trek to Athupopu, the sacred site of the Idu Mishmi community in Dibang Valley district, calling it a strong testament to unity, devotion, and collaboration between the Indian Army and local communities.
“The Civil–Military Trek to the sacred Idu Mishmi site Athupopu concluded at Anini, celebrating unity, faith, and cooperation. For the Idu Mishmi community, Athupopu is believed to be the resting place of souls on their journey to the afterlife, a sacred realm where nature and spirit meet,” CM Khandu posted on X.
Khandu expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Indian Army’s Spear Corps for accompanying local residents, helping them reconnect with their ancestral faith, and preserving the spirit of reverence for the state’s sacred landscapes.
“Such initiatives beautifully blend service, spirituality, and cultural pride,” he stated.
The trek, organized in collaboration with community leaders, united serving Army personnel and local residents as they navigated a challenging route through the pristine landscapes of Dibang Valley.

The Chief Minister said that preserving sacred landscapes such as Athupopu is vital to upholding and strengthening Arunachal Pradesh’s rich indigenous heritage.
