Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Basanti Thriju has clinched a gold medal at the 6th WPC State Powerlifting Championship 2025.
Trained under Coach Norbu Lama, Thriju’s outstanding performance not only earned her the top podium finish but also the coveted title of “Strongest Woman of Arunachal Pradesh.” Her achievement has brought immense pride to Team Tawang and the entire district.
The championship, organised under the Arunachal World Powerlifting Congress, concluded on Sunday. The event brought together competitors from across the state, including Papumpare, Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Keyi Panyor, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Namsai, West Siang, and Lepa Rada.
Team Tawang comprised six competitors — Lobsang Thinley and Akbari Khatoon from Rhebla Gangsum, Nawang Dondup from Tawang town, Lobsang Delek from Bomdila, and Norbu Lama and Basanti Thriju from Tenga.
