Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul on Monday rolled out a statewide awareness drive on child rights, aimed at strengthening protection mechanisms and fostering a safer environment for children.
The initiative was launched at a programme held at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar, where the minister unveiled a set of informational pamphlets designed to educate children, parents, teachers and the wider public about key child protection laws.
These include the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) Act, the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to an official release.
Pul commended the APSCPCR for presenting the information in a clear and accessible format, noting that the material would help children better understand their rights to safety, dignity and education.
She said awareness at the grassroots level is essential to ensuring effective implementation of child protection laws.
The minister also appealed to citizens to actively report any violations of child rights and seek assistance from designated authorities.
She highlighted resources such as Child Helpline 1098, Police Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112, the Child Welfare Committee, District Child Protection Units, Labour Officers, and the APSCPCR as key support mechanisms.
In a statement, the APSCPCR described the campaign as a crucial step toward building stronger awareness at the community level and creating a child-friendly atmosphere across the state.

APSCPCR chairperson Ratan Anya emphasised that awareness is fundamental to prevention. She said informing children, parents and educators about legal safeguards empowers communities to stand firmly against abuse, exploitation and discrimination.
The Commission, she added, remains dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of every child in Arunachal Pradesh.
