Itanagar: Akhilesh Sahani, a promising cricketer from Arunachal Pradesh, is set to become the second player from the state to represent an English cricket club.
Following the footsteps of Techi Doria, who was the first Arunachali to play for an English club, Sahani has signed a contract with Truro Cricket Club (TCC) for the Cornwall Cricket Premier League, 2025.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated cricketer Akhilesh Sahani on his outstanding achievement.
“This marks a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh cricket, as Akhilesh becomes only the second player from the State to represent an English club. Wishing him great success and an exciting journey ahead,” CM Khandu said.
Sahani will travel to England next year to join TCC and participate in the Cornwall Cricket Premier League.
Born in 1994, he is a talented all-rounder who has represented the state in numerous tournaments. He has played for the Arunachal cricket team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Ranji Trophy, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Sahani expressed his excitement and anticipation about playing for TCC. The years of hard work and dedication are finally paying off, he added.

Expressing delight over Sahani’s signing with an English cricket club, Nirjuli Cricket Club chairman Tarh Nachung said that it is a testament to the club’s efforts in nurturing budding talents from the state.
He stated that the opportunity would also inspire other players to strive for excellence.
