GUWAHATI: Aaranyak, a premier biodiversity conservation organization, has stepped up its support for local wildlife protection efforts in Arunachal Pradesh.
The organization on Sunday provided essential field equipment to the Community Surveillance and Monitoring Team (CSMT) in Pasighat.
The donated equipment includes rechargeable torches, headlamps, walkie-talkies, and first-aid kits.
These tools will help the CSMT operate more effectively in challenging field conditions, particularly during even during adverse weather.
By ensuring the CSMT is well-equipped, Aaranyak aims to strengthen its ability to monitor and combat wildlife crimes.
At the handover ceremony, CSMT Chairperson Maksam Tayeng and Secretary Oki Modi expressed their gratitude to Aaranyak for the generous contribution.
They acknowledged that the new equipment will significantly enhance their morale and operational efficiency, leading to improved wildlife surveillance.
This initiative exemplifies Aaranyak’s dedication to supporting grassroots teams that are committed to protecting wildlife and natural resources.
The event was graced by officials from Aaranyak including Senior Manager Dr. Jimmy Borah, Senior Project Officer Ivy Farheen Hussain, and Assistant Project Officer Bijeet Baro.
They emphasized the importance of community involvement in wildlife protection.
Dr. Borah highlighted the CSMT’s crucial role in supporting the Arunachal government’s plan to promote the D’Ering Wildlife Sanctuary as a tourist destination.
Hussain stressed the need to equip frontline conservation workers with tools necessary to safeguard wildlife and combat illegal activities.
