Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police have apprehended four individuals involved in a series of highway robberies along NH-415 near Karsingsa in Papum Pare district.
These arrests mark the culmination of months of investigation into a gang that had been targeting commuters since January, often impersonating officials conducting Inner Line Permit (ILP) and contraband checks.
Victims were reportedly threatened with daggers before being robbed of cash, phones, and other valuables.
Following several written FIRs from affected individuals, two cases were registered at Banderdewa Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A special investigative team was formed under the supervision of Naharlagun SDPO Rike Longdo and Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, Kipa Hamak, with overall coordination by SP Mihin Gambo.
The team collected crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and eyewitness testimonies, and launched a targeted search operation.
The breakthrough came on Thursday when two suspects were intercepted at Karsingsa during an attempted robbery.
While one fled the scene, 19-year-old Patey Bagang was caught and taken into custody.
During interrogation, Bagang revealed the identities of his three accomplices, which led to a series of swift follow-up operations and the arrest of Tadar Rar (24) from 6 Kilo, Ngurang Tako (23) from Kimin, and Tabia Kapa (27) from Chandan Nagar.
